We are transforming household waste into a valuable resource for our community. With an average household waste generation rate of 1.50 kg per day, we are implementing source segregation and windrow composting to manage this volume effectively. By capturing 73.9% of our local waste, which is organic, we are producing nutrient-rich soil vitalizers for local urban agriculture. This initiative is supported by the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to build a cleaner, circular future for Hawassa.

We are dedicated to building a sustainable circular economy by bridging the gap between municipal efficiency and community action.
